President & CEO

Josephine Mazonde

MSc., MPH, BEd in Nursing, RN.

Josephine’s professional life has been around health care; teaching, managing projects/programs, clinical practice, and research. Josephine also did a lot of volunteering with women's organizations and others.

Because of the trauma and adverse effects of substance use in our communities, Josephine started a not-for-profit called Our Solid Roots Association. She invited other women to join hands in this journey of supporting marginalized women, especially African-Caribbean and Indigenous women who survive substance use and come to the program post-detox and treatment. The aim is to help these women with their sobriety by providing needed support.

Executive Director and Treasurer

Carole Macleod

A burnt-out former ER nurse, for 15+ years, and opening up the first HIV Aids clinic with 5 amazing physicians in Vancouver, Canada, turned co-founder of the foundation “Our Solid Roots Association" and online entrepreneur. Health and Wellness have always been my jam so coming into these spaces just made sense to me and I'm Blessed to have found this community. I live in Alberta, Canada with my incredible husband of 24 years, have an amazing 31-year-old son, and our goofy but lovable rescue dog, Lukas. I love to travel to our property in Mexico and take road trips, with my husband, on our Harleys, through the Canadian Rockies, and beyond. Also, I’m an International Bestselling Author.
